The Changes & Shifts of a Creative Entrepreneur While Running a Microbusiness

In my e-course Illuminate, we do a lot of soul-searching and introspection about how our businesses & lives interact with each other, so that we can create better businesses & lives.

After designing and writing this course, I worked through it myself.

And, oh my, did it open my eyes. Never did I think my own creation would challenge me so much.

4 Ways to Calm Overwhelm & Get Motivated in Your Business

I don’t know what it is about Autumn, but every year when the leaves start to fall, I fall, crashing into a heap of overwhelm and exhaustion. After 10 steady months of staring at a computer screen for hours and hours each day, I start to lose my motivation and my entrepreneur energy. My creativity-on-demand well is dried up, desperate for replenishment. For going inside. For nourishment.Yet, Fall tends to bring out a rush of creative energy in different ways. Creating Space in your Business to Avoid Burnout

Running your own solopreneur or small business is hard work. I’ll let you in on a little secret…we all struggle! I work with a lot of business owners, so I see all the overwhelm, anxiety and burnout. It happens to me, too…sometimes a LOT.

It’s ok if you burn out. Let it happen. Rest. Do something else. If you give yourself a break every once in awhile, you’ll have space to create new ideas. Brand Clarity: How to be Consistent with your Branding

Having a clear picture of what your business “looks” and “feels” like…its visual identity, personality, vibe, story, message…is so incredibly important for running a sustainable business. These are all characteristics that make up your branding.

Your logo, website, letterhead, signage, advertisements, brochures, business cards….all of these things are what I call your business’ visual outpourings.

In Autumn, an End is a Beginning

Autumn has arrived in the Northern Hemisphere… the dawn of a new season. A season normally related to endings – the end of Summer and the end of the cycle of life for things growing in the Earth.

But I always see Autumn as more of a beginning. Maybe because I was born in the Fall. Or maybe because that’s when a new school year always started. But I think I see it as a beginning because I feel so inspired around this time of year.

How to Safely Update WordPress & WordPress Plugins (+ backup your entire website)

Why Updating WordPress is so important – One word: Security. Along with all the nice visual and functional changes, keeping up with the newest versions of WordPress and Plugins protects you more from cyber attacks. There is countless malware out there that can infect your website’s health, or steal your password, so WordPress comes out with these big (and smaller) updates to put up a thicker wall between your site and computer viruses. So, please, for your own peace of mind…always keep WordPress and all Plugins up-to-date.
